Jackson Thornton Wealth Management( JTWM) has been named to the 2025 Accounting Today Wealth Magnets list. The recently released list ranked CPA firm financial planning practices by assets under management and featured 200 firms throughout the U. S. JTWM ranked 39th on the list and is the largest CPA firm financial planning practice based in Alabama. The firm has been featured in the rankings since 2021.

Emma Gunter, a Senior Tax Associate at Jackson Thornton, has been recognized as the 2025 Young Alumna by Auburn University Montgomery( AUM). This award recognizes outstanding achievements and contributions in business, as well as dedication to AUM and the College of Business.

The YMCA of Greater Montgomery officially opened its brand-new Y Towns at the Bell Road YMCA and James W. Wilson, Jr. YMCA— a one-of-a-kind, interactive play experience designed to spark imagination, creativity and community connection in children of all ages. Each Y Town is a hands-on replica of a real community, where children can explore, roleplay and learn through a variety of themed areas that reflect the businesses and services that keep our cities thriving.
VOLUNTEERS WERE HONORED AT 51ST ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY
HandsOn River Region honored outstanding community volunteers at the 51st annual Volunteer of the Year Awards on April 24. This year’ s awards, presented during National Volunteer Week, were given to outstanding individuals and groups whose efforts have positively impacted the River Region.
WETUMPKA UNVEILS NEW FALL LINE OVERLOOK
The Fall Line Overlook in Wetumpka officially opened in late April, offering residents and visitors a scenic and educational public space. Located at 305 Hill Street between the Kelly Fitzpatrick Center for the Arts and Coaches Corner, the overlook provides panoramic views of the Coosa River and features a symbolic representation of Alabama’ s state outline. The project was completed without loans, thanks to $ 130,000 raised through community donations, grants and fundraising events.
FAULKNER UNIVERSITY’ S NURSING PROGRAM SIGNS ENROLLMENT MOU WITH SOUTHERN UNION
Faulkner University and Southern Union State Community College( SUSCC) have signed a Concurrent Enrollment Memorandum of Understanding( MOU) for Faulkner’ s new nursing program. This agreement will provide students with a seamless transition from Southern Union to Faulkner University’ s Bachelor of Science in Nursing( BSN) program. Called the Flight to Faulkner program, this program will allow qualified applicants a guaranteed seat in Faulkner’ s School of Nursing. It is part of an effort to improve nursing shortages across Alabama.
