Today Munich is an important and still growing commercial hub in the center of Europe, uniting a lot of international companies, one of the biggest airports in Europe, different architectural styles and lots of culture ranging from museums to theaters, operas, concerts and some of the biggest universities in Germany.
The regional food is often regarded as“ typically german”, consisting of lots of meat( favorably pork and veal) and some dishes that are quite unknown in the rest of Germany like Weisswurst( white sausages), Obatzda( a cream made from cheese and spices) or Knoedel. The typical beverage is beer, which is served in many different( sometimes seasonal) variations like Helles( Pale Lager), Weissbier( Wheat beer), Maerzen or Bock( a stronger lager with more alcohol).
Several operas, more than 50 theaters and a high number of museums, especially international renowned art museums like the Pinakotheken or the Lenbachhaus can be found throughout the city.
Entertainment, Music & Sports The most famous celebration in Munich is – without any doubt – the Oktoberfest.
