deed to serve the Lord on short-term mission trips . We pray that God calls them into full-time missionary service , as he has called many career missionaries through short-term mission experiences .
Unfortunately , serving on a short-term mission team is impossible for many outside the U . S . Bill Anderson , OMS Global ( OMSG ) Board chair , shared , “ As OMSG expands , missionaries will be recruited who will not come from the traditional recruitment areas of Australia , New Zealand , Canada , the U . K ., and the U . S . but will come from countries without the same funding opportunities . We need to consider how the funding model will develop now .”
In April , Cindy and I led a multinational work team to an OMS camp in Spain . The team consisted of 10 Albanians , 2 Canadians , 1 Colombian , 1 Scot , and 3 Americans . God pulled us together from previous connections . Thanks to assistance from the Yoder scholarship for first-time MFM applicants , strategic location planning , and waiving the administration fee , our global team could minister together .
MFM desires to continue finding ways to provide opportunities and financial assistance to those willing to go wherever God asks them to go , regardless of their country of origin .
As we celebrate 70 years and dream and plan for the next 70 , we ’ re reminded of words from Dwight Ferguson , founder of MFM : “ Ask God for the opportunity to be a world witness for Christ ,” quoting Psalm 2:8 , which says , “ Ask of me , and I will make the nations your heritage , and the ends of the earth your possession .”
