I have been a member of the Link Group for 6 years and have loved every minute . Being a member of the group has opened doors to other opportunities , has introduced me to many wonderful , dedicated people and allowed me to contribute to the implementation of research findings .
However , I got involved with Link Group by pure accident . Having worked with communities overseas , I wanted to help my own community when I returned to the UK . I didn ' t have a clue what I could do but I did join my GP practice PPG ( Patient participation Group ). We were used to mounting health promotion displays at the practice so readily agreed when we were asked by Keele to publicise the pilot project to place a physio in the surgery for one day a week . I jumped at the chance to join the Link Group , when I was asked following our meeting . I was able to follow-up the display with a talk by the physio and distribution of the Osteoarthritis handbook through our local u3a . Patients need accessible evidence-based information to contribute to managing their conditions . I ' m proud to say we , in the Link Group , aim to provide that information .
