Celebrating 75 years of the NHS | Page 19

NHS @ 75
I volunteer virtually in my role as a Patient as Educator , talking to 1st year Medical Students , about my various conditions and how this has impacted upon my life . I find it enjoyable and very rewarding , with the students always telling me how beneficial they find these sessions .
One particular young student , seemed very nervous and quiet at the start . I managed to break the ice and encouraged her to ask me questions . When the allotted time was over , she pleaded for me to continue , as said how much she was enjoying her first real patient contact . Then she went on to say , that she had been awake all night , worrying what she could say to a lady in her seventies ! Hope this put her on the road to a good Doctor / Patient relationship .
