Middle School Academies
The 2017-18 school year offers middle school students new options for STEAM* education.
Academies are located within existing middle schools.
Bessie Coleman Middle School Environmental Science &
Engineering Academy
Through field experiences, competitions and real-world problem solving, students explore
science and engineering careers. Students are introduced to engineers and scientists and
learn about the professions.
W.S. Permenter Middle School Entrepreneurship & Design Academy
This interactive learning environment is for students who are self-driven, creative and have
an ambitious spirit. Core classes address challenges that highlight the ups and downs of
business ownership. Students create prototype companies, learn web and graphic design,
and gain client management skills.
