Choir Walk the halls of CHHS or the Ninth Grade Center and you might hear students singing traditional selections, musical theatre numbers or chamber choir pieces. You can keep this musical variety in the air by supporting the annual musical theatre dinner fundraiser. Showtime for “Live on Broadway!” is 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at the Performing Arts Center. Visual Arts Due to increased student interest, the district has doubled the number of advanced art classes at CHHS and added a new teacher. Six advanced art classes are now offered in painting, drawing, ceramics and sculpture. More than 165 students are taking advanced art classes at CHHS this year, up from 65 students last year. Preparing Students for Life The Cedar Hill Academy of Visual & Vocal Arts (CHAVA) is an integrated program that allows CHHS and NGC students to focus on multiple aspects of performance while taking a rigorous academic course load. A fitting acronym, Chava, pronounced hah-vah, is the Hebrew word for life. The program prepares students for a successful future, and upon graduation, students have the skills to compete for college admission into a fine arts major. 15
