Choir
Walk the halls of CHHS
or the Ninth Grade
Center and you might
hear students singing
traditional selections,
musical theatre numbers
or chamber choir pieces.
You can keep this
musical variety in the air
by supporting the annual
musical theatre dinner
fundraiser. Showtime for
“Live on Broadway!” is
7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10,
at the Performing
Arts Center.
Visual Arts
Due to increased student interest, the district has doubled the number of advanced art classes at CHHS
and added a new teacher. Six advanced art classes are now offered in painting, drawing, ceramics and
sculpture. More than 165 students are taking advanced art classes at CHHS this year, up from 65 students
last year.
Preparing Students for Life
The Cedar Hill Academy of Visual & Vocal Arts (CHAVA) is an integrated program that allows
CHHS and NGC students to focus on multiple aspects of performance while taking a rigorous
academic course load. A fitting acronym, Chava, pronounced hah-vah, is the Hebrew word for
life. The program prepares students for a successful future, and upon graduation, students have
the skills to compete for college admission into a fine arts major.
