CDU Celebrates APIDA Heritage Month
Student Services , Staff Council , and Human Resources collaborated to celebrate Asian , Pacific Islander , Desi-American ( APIDA ) Heritage Month . Exciting activities were hosted all month long , virtually and in-person , that included a live Dumpling Demo with Chef Nina , a visit to the Japanese American National Museum , and a yoga session aimed at helping awaken flexibility and grounding one ’ s mind and body .
There was also a large celebration that took place in the COBB Building ’ s lobby that featured live music , Polynesian cultural display booths , hula lessons , food , boba and more .
“ CDU greatly values our students of Asian , Pacific Islander , and Desi-American heritage , shared Kolini Coleman , Director of Student Services . “ This was a great opportunity to honor their culture and share it with other students , staff , and faculty .”
Asian , Pacific Islander , Desi American ( APIDA ) Heritage Month takes place every May in the United States to celebrate the country ’ s 22.2 million Asians , over 4.2 millions Desis , and 1.6 million Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander communities .
