CDU Health Sciences Library Launches Live Chat
The CDU Health Sciences Library / Learning Resource Center provides exemplary health information resources and services that are essential for the provision of quality educational , research , and clinical services of Charles R . Drew University of Medicine and Science for faculty , students , staff , community , and its affiliates .
The primary goal of the Library is to offer print and online resources that can be accessed in the Library on campus or remotely . The Library serves as a hub of collaboration and cooperation , promotes life-long learning through relevant instruction and training , and develops partnerships with health science libraries throughout the state and the country .
The Health Sciences Library launched a live chat function on the CDU website in early 2021 . The new system enables students , faculty , and staff to virtually contact a library staff member in real-time 7 days a week during select hours . This new function is useful during COVID-19 campus closures but also will provide a convenience during normal semesters for students looking to work on a project on days when they are not on campus .
The CDU Library is a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine ( NNLM ) Region 5 . It is an institutional member of the Medical Library Association ( MLA ); an institutional member of the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries ( AAHSL ); and a member of the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium ( SCELC ).
