The Letter U
Laurie Koensgen
is the uvula of a wide-mouthed child who is trying to swallow the sun /
is the sidelong glimpse of a woman ’ s breasts as she stoops to cradle that baby in her arms /
is moonlight dripping down the windowpane in the room where she and her man make love /
is the shape their bodies make when they are sleeping , the milk-breathed child warm between their hearts .
