Future-Ready High School Core Curriculum
The Future-Ready Course of Study requires students to take the following 28 units of credit:
4 English Units 4 Credits: I, II, III, IV
4 Mathematics Units 4 Credits: Math I, Math II, Math III 4th Math Course to be aligned with student’ s post high school plans
4 Social Studies Units 4 Credits: World History, Economics & Personal Finance, American History, Civic Literacy
3 Science Units 3 Credits: Biology, Earth / Environmental Science, A Physical Science course
1 Health & Physical Education Unit

Electives and other Requirements
1 Credit required
Not required for graduation. Required to meet minimum application requirements for the North Carolina University System.
6 Credits required 2 Elective credits of any combination from either:
• Career and Technical Education( CTE)
• Arts Education
• World Languages 4 Elective credits required( four course concentration) from one of the following:
• Career and Technical Education( CTE)
• Arts Education( e. g. dance, music, theater arts, visual arts)
• World Languages
• JROTC Any other subject area( e. g. Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, or English)
Please note: Some suggested foundational courses are not available at every school, therefore these courses are negotiable. Please refer to the required courses for each department. The suggested coursework was created to offer the most complete education for a particular career path.
