Future-Ready High School Core Curriculum

The Future-Ready Course of Study requires students to take the following 28 units of credit:
4 English Units 4 Credits: I, II, III, IV
4 Mathematics Units 4 Credits: Math I, Math II, Math III 4th Math Course to be aligned with student’ s post high school plans
4 Social Studies Units 4 Credits: World History, Economics & Personal Finance, American History, Civic Literacy
3 Science Units 3 Credits: Biology, Earth / Environmental Science, A Physical Science course
1 Health & Physical Education Unit
World Languages
Electives and other Requirements
1 Credit required
Not required for graduation. Required to meet minimum application requirements for the North Carolina University System.
6 Credits required 2 Elective credits of any combination from either:
• Career and Technical Education( CTE)
• Arts Education
• World Languages 4 Elective credits required( four course concentration) from one of the following:
• Career and Technical Education( CTE)
• Arts Education( e. g. dance, music, theater arts, visual arts)
• World Languages
• JROTC Any other subject area( e. g. Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, or English)
