The rain let up a little in August which allowed for some good golf days. Our Men’s and Senior Club Championships were very successful. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all participants for supporting your club. We hosted the Northeast Georgia PGA Senior Classic on August 12th and 13th. This event brought a lot of guests to the course. Cateechee Director of Golf, Jeff Gotham, represented us well winning low professional honor. The higher volume of golfers created more divots on the fairways. Our members responded with a divot repair party. We had a lot of fun and improved the fairways for the upcoming September events which will include our Ladies Club Championship and a collegiate tournament hosted by Emmanuel College. Denny will be introducing a new menu for the restaurant in early September. It will feature a number of new selections in response to your suggestions on the member survey. We are now featuring a country fried steak lunch special every Thursday in the grille. The annual member appreciation day will be Sunday, September 22nd. Tonya and Mimsy have planned fun activities for your whole family. Please come out so we can show you how much we appreciate you being a member of Cateechee Golf Club. It will be time to aerate and top-dress greens on September 23rd and 24th. We will then immediately over-seed tees and fairways with winter grass that same week. Mason and the turf care team have kept the course in great condition this summer. These necessary maintenance procedures will ensure equally great conditions for the fall and winter seasons. See you at the Club! - Buck 2013 BIRDIE TREE For the past ten years, the CLGA has had a seasonal Birdie Tree. This tree represents all the birdies and eagles that have been scored by CLGA members during our play days and prizes are awarded to all during our Holiday Luncheon each year. Through the end of July, 19 of our members have scored a total of 87 birdies. The members with five or more birdies are Jeanine Douglas (14), Kaye Lewis (11), Jean Kidd (9), Gena Cauthen (8), Kathy Heriford (8), Annette Holland (8), Candy Taylor (7) and Audrey Burke (6). With more than three months of play days remaining, we will definitely see more birdies and eagles added to our tree! C l u b Connection | Septemb e r 2 0 1 3
