MEMBER-ONLY SUNDAY With an attempt to create a little “private club” environment, Sunday, April 6th will be a Member Only afternoon. Beginning at 1:00 pm, the course will be available to members and guests of members. We want to try this as a means to say “thank you” to our most loyal customers, our members. The Golf Shop is in the process of creating an event for that afternoon. It is our intent to schedule this the first Sunday of each month April - September, however, the success depends on participation. Keep an eye in the Golf Shop for more details. ON THE GREEN MASON BOWERS, SENIOR ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT I hope you are all as excited as we are to see the weather begin making turns in the right direction. We have had a few rough winter months but hopefully we are now headed into the beautiful spring and summer weather. I know everyone is ready to get back out on the golf course, tennis courts, and our beautiful Cateechee grounds. The inclement weather has not allowed us to do much work out on the course. We have been spending time in the maintenance facility grinding reels, repairing ball washers, painting signs markers, and the list just goes on, to help improve our equipment and overall presentation. We have also been clearing a lot of brush which will allow the air to flow to the greens that are really low in elevation. We have experienced several problems with irrigation main lines, due to the recent weather, but we have resolved them and everything is in good working order. The spraying of roundup is complete and I feel confident about the progress we have made considering the weather. As soon as the potential for frost and cold weather is over we will open the tennis courts up for play and keep them in tip-top shape. We will also be planting our summer flowers in April and look forward to the beauty they will bring to the club. The Turf Maintenance team would like to thank everyone for coming out and enjoying the golf course. We enjoy having not only members, but visitors as well, take pride in Cateechee. We value your time with us and hope you make many memories at Cateechee!! As always, thank you for supporting Cateechee Golf Club. w w w. c a t e e c h e e . c o m Club Connection | March/April 2014
