UK-based Clamcleats Ltd has recently ordered a cold chamber diecasting machine from Italy ’ s Colosio , to help revamp its foundry in Welwyn Garden

Toyota opens aluminium engine plant in Indonesia

According to reports in JakartaGlobe , Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia recently inaugurated its fifth factory in the country at the Karawang International Industrial City in West Java . The factory will produce aluminium block engines for domestic and Asian markets , Toyota having selected Indonesia as the third country in which to establish engine manufacturing , after Japan and China , as the country is the world ’ s largest producer and consumer of aluminium . Toyota has two other factories in Sunter , north Jakarta that produce steel block engines for its Innova and Fortuner models . The opening marks a significant milestone for Indonesia , after the country took control of its domestic aluminium supply three years ago . The government took over Indonesia Asahan Aluminium ( Inalum ) from a Japanese consortium in 2013 after a 30 year agreement expired . City . Clamcleats has been manufacturing in the UK since its formation in 1965 and is investing to ensure continued growth . The cold chamber diecasting machine is equipped with a data storage system , allowing accurate repetition of all injection parameters , keeping all moulds consistent and allowing improved quality . The machine will be supplied with a robotic die sprayer and ladler for pouring the molten aluminium , thereby allowing a fully automated cycle where appropriate . Continuous cycling will bring consistency to the process , leading to an increase in capacity and shorter lead times . The machine is able to produce a locking force of 200 tons and can cast up to 2.7kg per shot . It has been ordered in the Green Line version , lowering noise levels , reducing the need for cooling fluid and reducing energy consumption by up to 80 %. With the entire foundry undergoing refurbishment , careful planning has been necessary to minimise disruption . Reducing air pollutants by more than 90 %

Exhaust air purification is one of the key challenges faced by the modern foundry industry , where pragmatic and economic solutions to reduce emissions are required . A promising approach is offered by the company Infuser , with its Climatic industrial emissions control system . This system has a wide range of applications and has already demonstrated its capabilities in a number of industries . In 2015 , Infuser teamed up with the Mettmann-based foundry of Georg Fischer Corp , as well as with Hüttenes-Albertus , one of the world ’ s leading suppliers of chemical products for the foundry industry . The goal of this joint project was to test and optimise the Climatic emissions reduction system with regards to foundry-specific applications . The results are now in : The system significantly reduces the concentration of a range of substances in foundry exhaust air . During core making processes using cold box , beta set and other binder systems from Hüttenes- Albertus , Climatic fully met all expectations in relation to reducing emissions . The system , which is based on an energy-efficient atmosphericphotochemical process , is able to significantly reduce emission VOCs , amines , phenols , formaldehyde , methyl formate , BTEX and other substances . The results of tests carried out at Georg Fischer ’ s core making plant in Mettmann and on the production lines of another foundry are impressive : BTEX emissions can be lowered by 85 % -97%. In cold box processes , the level of amines in the exhaust air of the core drying oven was cut by 89 %.
