Tips for Getting a Taxi in Bali:

  • Always insist that the meter is used, especially with Blue Bird. The base fare should be IDR 7,000, plus around IDR 6,500–10,000 per km.

  • Avoid unbranded blue taxis, many use local drivers who may try to negotiate high fixed fares instead of using the meter.

  • Have small change ready, especially 10k or 20k IDR notes, to avoid being stuck when drivers don’t offer change.

  • For longer trips or transfers from tourist spots (like Uluwatu Temple or beach clubs), consider private driver services or pre-booked shuttles—they often offer fixed rates and may be more convenient.
