Dialog Axiata PLC, the largest mobile service provider in Sri Lanka with more than 50 percent of the country's mobile subscriber market, recently announced the launch of Car Connect, an On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) device for vehicles along with a smartphone app. The new device is expected to provide vehicle performance and driving diagnostics information to drivers, helping them keep a tab on issues relating to their vehicles.
The latest Car Connect system is one of many innovative solutions that were introduced under Dialog Smartlife, the Internet of Things (IoT) digital lifestyle platform launched by Dialog for Sri Lankan consumers.
The new diagnostic platform differentiates itself from other similar services, by providing a much broader range of facilities for vehicle owners. It’s underlying technology is cloud-based and provides the drivers with feedback relating to the status of their vehicle. This would include info relating to the vehicle's health, fuel economy, engine performance, driving habits as well as trip analytics, and would come with a speeding alarm, a Geofence alarm, a towing alarm and an Idling alarm.
Apart from that, the Car Connect smartphone app also comes with
an inbuilt document wallet that offers set reminders for essential things such as renewing the license, renewing the vehicle insurance and alerting when the next scheduled maintenance is due, making it ideal for both individual drivers and fleet managers to monitor their vehicle fleets.
