Aston Martin is set to Debut an SUV in Late 2019
Earlier this year, the famous British luxury carmaker Aston Martin revealed a rendering of the the DBX concept that had been turned into a monster truck. Though this was only done with the intention of celebrating April Fool’s day, the company is actually planning to release a high-end SUV, somewhere around late 2019. Aston Martin also recently marked the completion of the second stage of expansion at its St Athan facility. Though we do not know much about the Aston's first SUV, what we do know is that the vehicle will not retain its two-door layout of the DBX concept.
Dubbed as the Aston Martin DBX, this SUV is expected to be more of a crossover vehicle, with all the spacious amenities of an SUV and the power and speed of an Aston Martin supercar.
Commenting about the company’s SUV aspirations, CEO Andy Palmer said that the upcoming model would be a four-door vehicle with a hybrid option, and will retain many aspects of a typical Aston Martin car. "There are aspects of the car that have changed dramatically, perhaps none more so than the fact that it is now a four-door," - CEO Andy Palmer
Buyers can expect to take a look at the Aston Martin DBX soon, potentially at next year's Geneva Motor Show.
Bentley Offers New Walnut Veneer Colour Option for its Top End Models
Renowned British luxury carmaker Bentley recently gave a new interior colour option to a few of its top end models. Dubbed as ‘open-pore walnut’, the new classic wood veneer will decorate the interiors of the Bentayga, Flying Spur, and the Mulsanne.
What really makes this new colour option unique is that it is said to be sourced from a special hybrid tree type, which is a combination of European Walnut and American Walnut trees. These special trees are said to be rooted mostly in California and its quality is monitored frequently by the Bentley's wood specialists to ensure they select the best quality walnut veneers. The final handcrafted finish is finalized at the Bentley HQ in Crewe, England, resulting in improving the large pore structure to expose the powerful dark coloring of the wood. Furthermore, Bentley reports that they use very specific materials to make sure its customers are able to feel the wood. Bentley then paints in open pore walnut veneer with with three ultra-thin layers of lacquer, together amounting to just 0.1mm thick. In order to highlight this, Bentley's makes its high-gloss lacquer coating 0.5mm thick and glossy with a smooth finish. Each layer is then applied by hand and sanded between applications to generate the desired results.
