The Commando Challenge is a unique racing event for both cars and motorbikes organised by the Commando Regiment of the Sri Lankan Army in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) and CEAT Sri Lanka. Combining an adventurous 3-day expedition with a challenging supercross, the event will start on the 16th of July 2017 and will be held at the Commando Regimental Training School, Uva Kuda Oya.

This year, the regiment will exclude the annual 4×4 expedition to focus on the supercross, especially due to its success in 2016. The newly built international-standard track contributed to last year’s success, living up to expectations. The track is the longest, widest and fastest witnessed in the local racing scene. Moreover, the Supercross will launch the all new “Joker-lap”, namely the “Commando Lap” this year.

The expedition is an innovative concept, carefully-designed to provide a driving challenge along with adventure across the distinctive geography of Sri Lanka. Built with the technical guidance of SLARDAR, the car racing track, and the bike track is 1.9km and 1.6km respectively. The Commando Supercross is set to test drivers and riders from all parts of the island, proving to be an action packed contest tipped to be the longest and fastest in the country, this includes 12 car events and 10 bike events on race day.

The Super-Cross, under the theme "Commando Challenge" is once again designed under the guidance of the father of Supercross racing in Sri Lanka, former President of SLARDAR Mr. Hans Ralf Karpinsky, and has added new features to the track in line with the international Rallycross Championship venues. All competitors are compelled to use their strategy as this lap is much longer and remarkably challenging. The competitive races are expected to illuminate both the participants and the spectators on the 16th of July 2017 at the Commando Regimental Training School, Uva Kuda Oya.
