Hyundai is Betting Big on Futuristic Crossover SUVs

The South Korean auto giant Hyundai has made plans to expand its current range of crossover SUVs within the next couple of years, indicating the company’s shift towards more comfortable large size family vehicles.

Hyundai’s current range of Crossovers and SUVs includes the compact size Tucson as well as the more popular Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and the Santa Fe mid-size SUV.

The company has scheduled its next SUV model, which is expected to arrive around March 2018. The new sports utility vehicle will be marketed as the Hyundai Kona, and is thought to be a smaller size SUV. This fourth crossover from Hyundai will have its place secured close to the Hyundai Tucson within the company’s crossover range.

Apart from that, rumours have also suggested that Hyundai might have another small size SUV on its drawing boards that is not expected to hit the US market. Furthermore, the company is also cooking a big size three-row SUV, which it hopes might bring a challenge to some of the bestselling machines that are offered by Hyundai’s competitors.

These numbers however, does not include a series of Genesis crossover SUVs that are also rolling out of the rumour mill. While the company has not confirmed anything yet, the Hyundai Genesis GV80 concept that was previewed during the 2017 New York auto show offers a glimpse into what we can expect in the near future.

Nevertheless, the upcoming Hyundai Kona will fight for its place alongside the more popular Nissan Juke, Fiat 500X and the Jeep Renegade, and may even come with en EV version with an impressive range of more than 320 km.
