Ananda Wedisinghe, a well-known and loved personality in Sri Lankan motor racing, passed away after succumbing to his injures on the 29 th of May, after a tragic incident at the Nuwara Eliya road races last April.

The eight-time Fox Hill Super cross champion experienced a tragic accident at the Nuwara Eliya road races on the 23 th of April where he experienced fatal injuries sending shock waves to everyone who was present. He was then taken to the Kandy general hospital and treated in the intensive care unit. There

he remained unconscious for over 5 weeks and survived with the help of support machines during this period of time. Doctors claimed that the motor bike champion has been in a coma due to serious damages on his head and spine following the fatal incident at Nuwala Eliya road races.

Throughout his career Ananda Wedisignhe was adored and revered as an amazing sportsman and a dear friend capturing the hearts of thousands of fans from across the country. The amazing stunts displayed on tracks that never fail to astound his audiences combined with his unique personality which constantly that exuded kindness and friendliness at all times was able to make him an astounding sports personality, which made his a person that many looked up to.

The Sri Lankan sports community and the entire nation will definitely miss the presence of this great legend; however his legacy will always remain in our hearts.
