Some of the models on the recall list includes the 2006-2011 Yaris, 2007- 2011 Lexus ES, 2009-2011 Corolla, 2010-2011 Lexus GX, and the 2011 Toyota Sienna.

Nissan sent a notification for the recall of 3.2 million of its vehicles, including models from its Infiniti brand. The company stated that the OCS sensor for the frontal passenger airbag was defective in several models. Some of these models were the 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, Nissan NV200 and the Nissan Leaf.

Mazda has also recalled 731,628 cars that included its 2009-2011 Mazda 6, Mazda RX-8 and the 2007-2011 Mazda CX-7 and CX-9.

The SUV’s will have a similar engine to the current B-Class Electric Drive. The line-up is also expected to come with an upgraded version of the company’s MRA platform.

As competitors Tesla and Audi are racking up their game with the Tesla Model X and the Audi A3 e-tron, the head of R&D at Mercedes-Benz, Thomas Weber, hinted that we could expect four new EV’s from the company before 2020. These will consist of two sedans based on the C-Class and S-Class, and two SUV’s based on Mercedes-Benz GLA and GLC.

The month of May has not been a good one for some veh-icle manufacturers, with a number of models having been recalled due to mechanical defects. The prime cause for this was the vehicles that came with airbags that were manufactur– ed by the Takata Corporation of Japan. A number of incidents have been reported where the airbags suddenly exploded and sent shrap–nel flying towards the face and body of the driver and the front passen–ger, causing a number of deaths worldwide.

As of now, the Takata airbag issue has prompted the recall of 35 - 40 million inflators affecting around 12 vehicle brands.

Subaru is also on the list and reca-lled 383,101 cars that included the 2006-2011 Subaru Impreza, 2009-2011 Subaru Legacy, Outback and the Forester. On a separate incident, Subaru recalled 48,500 vehicles of its Legacy and Outback models for an issue involving a total steering failure.

Mitsubishi recalled 38,628 cars, which included the 2006-2007 Mitsubishi Lancer and the Lancer Evolution.

Finding Faults: Big or Small, Recalling them All

Toyota had announced that it would be recalling 1,584,000 more cars in the US alone, in addition to its previous recalls for the same issue. Toyota’s subsidiary brands Scion and Lexus have also recalled a similar number of vehicles citing defects in the passenger side front airbag.
