The gate is ajar and unmanned. Nurses are hustling to different rooms with servings of
cornmeal porridge while Rafael Wright, a man with a physical disability, lies on a cot
covered by a discoloured sheet. He lies in silence with his eyes closed. His ‘solitude’ is
interrupted to feed him his breakfast.
