Jimmy Delgado

A native New Yorker, Jimmy Delgado is best known for his timbale playing and all
elements of Latin percussion. Jimmy became a bandleader with a group called
Master Timbaleros. Because of the band's success, the concept went to Puerto Rico ,
with the following year, Delgado and the Master Timbaleros continued successful
performances.
Delgado started his professional career in 1974, working with Orchestra Cimarron,
Tipica Novel, and Pupi Legarreta. He joined Ray Barretto’s band in 1976 and
rejoined Barretto for five-and-one-half more years. In 1977 Delgado started playing
bongos and eventually timbale for Willie Colon. He has also toured with Eddie
Palmieri, Tito Puente, and Harry Belafonte. Delgado continues to perform with his
most recent performance at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts presents
Global Tour Concert of the Hit Salsa Album “Indestructible.”
