WHAT IS IT?
The Corrections Academy is designed to prepare the student to work in the field of corrections. Correctional officers are employed by prisons, jails, and other correctional facilities. They provide care, custody, and supervision for incarcerated individuals to maintain a safe and secure environment.
This program includes an overview of the corrections system, as well as basic correctional skills and procedures. The program takes approximately three months or 420 technical training hours to complete. Graduation from the Academy enables the student to sit for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement State Officer Certification Examination.
Note: The Corrections Officer program is a limited access program. A specialized application process is required.
