WHAT IS IT ?
An emergency medical technician ( or EMT ) is a health care professional trained to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation services . They may be the first on the scene to respond and have the basic skills and equipment to assess the situation and provide life-saving measures to the patient .
Upon successful completion of this one-semester Eastern Florida State College program , students earn an Applied Technology Diploma and are eligible to sit for the State of Florida ( National NREMT ) certification exam .
Note : An EMT certification is required to become a Paramedic . This is a limited access program . A Special application process is required for this program .
