WHAT IS IT ?
The Medical Laboratory Technology Associate in Science Degree is a two-year program that incorporates general education and specific medical laboratory technique . This program appeals to students who are interested in biology and chemistry and who wish to work in a medical laboratory .
The program will prepare students to work in certain areas of a clinical lab , which include hematology , mycology , urinalysis , immunohematology ( blood bank ), chemistry , microbiology and serology .
The college has an equipped medical laboratory to introduce basic testing concepts for laboratory testing found in the typical hospital . The student will learn to perform actual diagnostic procedures at the college and then will do three clinical rotations at area hospitals .
Note : This is a limited access program with a specialized application process . Interested students who want to apply are required to attend an Open House session .
This program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Services ( NAACLS ).
