WHAT IS IT?

EFSC’ s Educational Technology Assistant Associate in Science degree prepares graduates for employment in the growing education paraprofessional field. In addition to teaching assistant positions, coursework prepares students to work as instructional coordinators, substitute teachers, and in other positions that provide educational assistance in an instructional setting.
Its two-year curriculum includes an embedded certificate and general education courses, plus content that explores the philosophical, psychological, and sociological aspects of teaching all children, including the disadvantaged, the English Language Learner, and the disabled. Courses also cover education processes, theories of learning, student evaluation, and grading, plus proficiency with educational technology and assistive technology tools.
The degree also provides supplemental training and potential career advancement opportunities for those currently employed in these occupations.
