QUESTIONING TECHNIQUES

Structured
These are comprised of predefined questions that tend to be asked of every candidate.
Unstructured
In this approach, the interviewer asks open-ended questions requiring more elaborate responses. These questions may be a follow up to an answer from a structured question. Insight into the interviewee’ s personality and style may be gained from these types of questions. They can also allow the interviewee to shine or crash.
Stress
This type of questioning is used to test skills under pressure and is not common. Criminal Justice- and Health-related industries may use this type.
Behavioral
The questions ask about specific, job-related experiences. They assume that past relevant behavior is the best predictor of future behavior, positive and negative.
