This is what it is about
We are really excited that 2 High School students enrolled in college this year, and that
our first college student, Judy Ann, will graduate from her IT course in March 2014.
College Entry
Salvador Idanan
is the young man who features in
our YouTube video. An absolute Maths genius and a
popular student, Salvador is also one of our founding
students. When discussing long term educational plans
with Salvador and his mum, there were no doubts that
he will do very well in the course he has selected.
Apart from his normal school studies, Salvador joined a
number of extra-curricular activities, including:
President of Math Club (MTAP)
Science Quiz Bee
Social Club
Student Technological & Entrepreneurship of the
Philippines
Salvador is enrolled in a 5 year Civil Engineering Course
at the Technical University of the Philippines. Because of
the high yearly fees, we are sharing the costs between 3
sponsors, including Cararoo. One of the sponsors, who
regularly visits the Philippines, has already met Salvador
and will continue to do so whenever possible.
Rocette Onas
is another one of our founding
students who graduated high school in 2012. With the
help of her parents, Rocette tried to fund a college
education, but after a few months had to stop. Her
parents just could not afford the tuition fees, despite
Rocette’s effort to help by taking a low paying job as a
sales assistant. Our own Admin Manager also tried to
help financially but the fees were beyond reach..
In April, Rocette, who is well regarded in Cararoo as a
pleasant, helpful young lady was interviewed with a
view to assisting her endeavours to go to college.
Supported by a glowing reference from Cararoo’s
Director and Administration Manager, it was decided
to offer Rocette a Cararoo Scholarship.
Rocette is enrolled at the STI Computer School in a 2
year Hospitality & Restaurant Services course, which
includes cooking classes.
Following this course, Rocette will have a number of
job opportunities.
College Graduation
Judy Ann Pintor is one of our founding students
who graduated from high school in 2010. She
was very fortunate in that her sponsor continued
to fund her college education to STI Computer
School. Judy has been enrolled in an IT course
and will graduate in March 2014.
Judy Ann has also been very fortunate in that an
IT company in Manila, Isphere Global, has
provided her with a small travel allowance so
that she can attend their office in Manila for on
the job training during her college breaks.
