Meet the New Board Following the passing of Eli Miranda in November 2012, Deputy Chair Person Cynthia Tinitigan has filled the position. I am pleased to announce that, at our AGM in April 2013, Cynthia was nominated and accepted the position as Chair Person. Also, Arlene Trinkler was nominated and accepted the Board position of Administration Manager. This year we gave the Nursery, Elementary, & High School children all different school bags. When you consider where these children live, they all look a million dollars when attending school – all very proud to display the Cararoo name. Back Row: Mariano Lee, Jaime Gonzales, Maurie Schokman COO, Philip Nazareno Legal Counsel, Maverick Evangelista Secretary to Board Front Row: Arlene Trinkler - Administration Manager, Cynthia Tinitigan - Chair Person, Claire Atkins Physiologist and consultant to Board. Start of 2013 –14 School Year Each year the success of our school sponsorship program gets better and more positive, reinforcing to those who manage and run the Foundation, with no monetary or other rewards, that we are doing the right thing. It does make you feel good when you see how EDUCATION gives these children confidence and a feeling of self-worth, something we all take for granted. This year, 5 children graduated High School and 5 children graduated Elementary School and continued onto High School. Unfortunately, 3 students had to be terminated for not following their terms of agreement with Cararoo. They were all given 2 warnings over the course of the 12 months. 6 Children from the Nursery also joined the Sponsorship program at Elementary level. The Remedial Reading for Elementary school students, which runs 6 days per week including school holidays, is proving to be a success. By increasing the skill levels of the students we can see improvements in school grades. We thank our sponsors & supporters. Page 2 of 8
