CARAROO FOUNDATION INC. DECEMBER 2013 NEWSLETTER—www.cararoofoundation.com.au The Amazing Human Spirit It’s amazing how often we see it. The people who have the least, give the most. In spite of their own recent difficulties when the floods washed through their homes in August, our Cararoo families were there to help those who lost everything in Typhoon Haiyan. It was decided to have a low key Christmas Party this year in order to divert some of the funds set aside for this purpose to the Rotary Typhoon Haiyan Appeal. August: Flood waters in Paranaque, the location of our village A total of $2,500 was donated - a wonderful gesture from Cararoo. We also need to say a big thank you to Sue O’Neill and her Pink Umbrella Foundation for donating $1,000 towards the August flood appeal. New Sponsor Helps Achieve Goals The timing was amazing! We are grateful to Maric Dujverbode (Executive Assistant Manager) and his staff at the Al Ghurair Rayhaan Rotana Hotel, Dubai, for joining with the Cararoo Foundation to improve the lives and futures of children and their families. Just as we decided to focus on helping the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, our friends from Al Ghurair Rayhaan—Dubai stepped in to ensure our children still got to enjoy a special Christmas treat. Their donation of funds, goods and toys were used to provide an unforgettable day for the children. (See page 4) Cararoo is extremely excited to partner with the Rotana Group. As they recognise the good work we do and support us, it also opens up new networks for us to explore. (See page 3) Our goal of supporting students from Nursery to University is becoming more and more achievable through the generous support of our sponsors. WE CARE—SAYS IT ALL Thank you from Cararoo Children Page 2 of 5
