Newsletter - December 2013 - Edition 13 Happy New Year to all our friends and supporters—this is a short Newsletter to focus on thanking the Rotary Club Northlakes Toukley for the Fundraising activities to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan, thank Nomads Manila for allowing Cararoo to use the sporting field and swimming pool for Cararoo Christmas party, and to say a big Thank You to a new, and we hope, long term supporter of the Foundation, the Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana Hotel in Dubai (see page 2), for their generosity. And again, Thanks to our major sponsor Bruce Simpson from KingVac for his continuing sponsorship support. 2014 is going to be another big year for Cararoo—we again thankyou for your support. Maurie Schokman COO Bollywood Spectacular The recent Bollywood Night, held by the Rotary Club of Northlakes Toukley was great fun. Held for the purpose of raising funds to support the Typhoon Haiyan Relief effort, those present had to agree it was a most entertaining evening. The outstanding dancers and musicians brought such energy and rhythm to the occasion that, even the most staid, couldn’t resist some toe-tapping and finger- rhythms on the table tops. Thanks Sirens Dance Sydney. The more adventurous found themselves on the dance-floor, and with some instruction, soon became “accomplished” Bollywood dancers. Through a very clever presentation, guests were taken on a journey across India through the rhythm and dance styles of various areas. Dinner was a culinary delight, as a menu of tasty Indian dishes were specially prepared by the very obliging staff at the Halekulani Bowling Club. Also a big thank you to Jan Pryor (above right) and her year 8 students for the great Bollywood decorations. (see selection on Page 5) Page 1 of 5
