one bit of the awesomeness that was
built into every one. All the factory
trim remains, including the egg crate
grille, both bumpers, and the cool
side emblems on the fenders, and all
of it has been polished and refinished
to really sparkle against the dark blue
paint. Heck, they even retained the
side-mounted spare tire which really
makes the truck look tough. The bed
is filled with lovely wood planks and
stainless rub strips, so its hauling days
are probably over, but the warm glow
is just about impossible to resist.

Inside there are modern leather
buckets from a late-model Ford Expedition and aside from some very
minor wrinkling on the driver’s seat,
they look almost new. Matching gray
door panels were created that give
the Spartan Chevy a more finished
feel and the contrasting blue carpets
certainly help with the NVH. The factory dash was restored and filled with
modern VDO instruments in a custom
panel that looks like it belongs there
while all the secondary knobs and
controls remain intact. The original
radio has been replaced by an AM/
FM/cassette unit that fits neatly in the
original slot and the factory heater
controls now manage a Vintage Air
HVAC system that uses reasonably
subtle vents under the dash to keep
things cool inside. A late-model GM
tilt column with a custom billet wheel
wrapped in blue leather gives it an
OEM vibe inside, but no truck in 1955
was anywhere near this luxurious.
