Meet the Fedhealth Dream Chasers
So, what do you get when you invite six ordinary
Fedhealth members to chase their individual fitness
dreams? The Fedhealth Dream Chasers of course!
As a medical scheme, Fedhealth has always
encouraged our members to get active and fit as part
of a healthy lifestyle. But this year, we’ve taken it to a
whole new level: by giving six members the support
needed to compete in their chosen 2019 Sanlam
Cape Town Marathon event on 14 and 15 September.
Back in June, we hooked them up with Asics running
shoes, two coaches and a dietician, and the rest as
they say, is history. TimesLIVE filmed the three
Johannesburg participants’ journeys, which we
shared on all the Fedhealth social media channels.
Fedhealth is immensely proud of our six Fedhealth
Dream Chasers, and cannot wait to watch them
achieve their race day goals. Without further ado,
meet the Fedhealth Dream Chasers:
42.2KM MARATHON
Bonani Zuke, Johannesburg
Bonani took up running four years ago after the birth of her daughter to
lose a bit of baby weight. She started with 4 to 5km three times a week, and
eventually increased this to 10km and 21km distances. She completed
Soweto marathon last year, her first 42.2km, as a test of her mental
strength. Bonani is looking to improve her time and since she’ll be turning
40 on race day, it’s her birthday gift to herself!
12KM PEACE TRAIL RUN
Nkine Letsela, Johannesburg
Nkine is 29 and on a quest for fitness with his fiancée since becoming the
parents of twin girls. For him, it’s beyond just getting into shape. He’s taken
up trail running in particular, to take his fitness journey to the next level, and
have the energy required to be an active and energetic dad.
Kamohelo Matsabisa, Port Elizabeth
Kamohelo is a 40-year-old married father of two. He decided to take on this
challenge as he feels it’s critical to live a healthy lifestyle in one’s middle age.
He’s hoping to reignite a passion for running that he lost in his early
twenties, and has found the support from the Fedhealth team to make all
the difference.
