6. The decentralisation of Cantania: cities and figures
L’Auditori along with the Government of Catalonia Education Department and the
Barcelona City Council Education Institute wish to decentralise the activity and intensify
the training that is given to the music teachers involved in it.
CITIES
The second year that Cantania was held at L’Auditori, the city of Granollers decided to join
the project and perform the cantata. The result was spectacular: more than 3,000 children
took part and 27 music teachers did the training. Since then other Catalan cities including
El Vendrell, Figueres, Granollers, Manresa, Mataró, Olot, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Vic and
Vilafranca del Penedès have signed up to the initiative. In Spain it has been held in Parla,
