As I got older, my local neurologist just kept increasing the amount of the medication each time I had a seizure. By the time I started college, I was on 600mg of Lamictal per day, and still continuing to have seizure about every 4-6 months. I requested a new neurologist in San Diego and he added Depakote to my medications, and reduced the amount of Lamictal to 200mg per day. I don't remember what they started me on with the Depakote, but for several years I took 750mg of Depakote per day and 200mg of Lamictal per day.

During those years I would still have a seizure about once per year, most time because I would be so depressed and tired or felt so sick of the medi-cation, I would forget to take or voluntarily stop

taking it just to feel "normal" for a day. I never really talked about my epilepsy with anyone because I never had to. I was alone most times I had a seizure or with Katie, my best friend, who knew exactly what to do. This was just my way of life until I had a seizure at my job. This seizure had more significant impact emotionally and physically than any other seizures in my past. My doctor increased my medication to 1000mg Depakote per day, and 200mg Lamictal per day.
