The Issues in Africa You've Never Heard About

Central African Republic War (2012 - Present)
by Deven Pace
sThis issue between the Central African Republic (CAR) and Anti-Balaka, a majority Christian militia, originally started in 2007, but they made a peace agreement, which agreed to a nationwide ceasefire and political representation for the rebel group to stop the issue from escalating any further. In December of 2012, the rebels accused the CAR of breaking the peace agreement. Major cities and towns were now being seized by the rebel group. Chad sent about 2,000 troops to help the government, but more cities and towns were still being taken over by the rebel group as they kept advancing . Eventually they controlled one third of the country after only three weeks of fighting. France sent troops to Africa, and many people thought it was to help the government until they publicly announced that they were only there to protect French citizens and would not intervene to stop the rebels. In March of 2013, the capital was finally seized and the president fled the country while the rebel leader Michel Djotodia declared himself president.
These are the issues happening in Africa right now that not just America is ignoring, but that the entire world is. The issues that will be discussed are things that affect tons of lives every day and no one hears about it or wants to do anything to help.
