CANADIAN PHYSIQUE ALLIANCE May/June Issue | Page 6

Dear Members: The Coronavirus has certainly impacted everyone’s lives and put the whole world on hold. This crisis has tested the human capacity to cope with the health and financial effects of the coronavirus and the sacrifices we have made to control its spread. Health and wellness has been the priority and continues as we move forward with the new normal. The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have been devastating to the fitness community with gyms being closed in early March and government restrictions to curb the spread resulting in the cancellation and postponement of many CPA competitions. Even though fitness centers have shut down, fitness enthusiasts have found ways to maintain their top fitness levels in prepping for upcoming competitions. Trainers around the world have come together to help, by offering training programs and tips to maintain our sanity and fitness regimen at home. Our Canadian Physique Alliance members have not given up; they have stayed focused and positive and are looking forward to once again stepping on stage. Many athletes have experienced isolation, social distancing and financial and mental stress as a result of this new normal but have kept themselves motivated because of the lifestyle and sacrifices needed to compete. CPA competitions have been cancelled or postponed to mid-August. The competition schedule for the remainder of the year is shown in this newsletter, on the CPA website and on our Instagram and will continue to be updated as changes occur. As shown in this newsletter you will see we believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel with all the opportunities to compete as we return to normalcy. Kudos to all our promoters who have found ways to ensure competitions are held within their communities. We are all pulling together - competitors, promoters, judges, sponsors, volunteers, photographers, tanners, and suit makers, rescheduling our lives to accommodate the event date changes as we progress through the 2020 season. The most impressive are the competitors stepping to the plate with their at-home creative workout programs to keep themselves in shape for their prep. We thank those athletes for joining the CPA and keeping it healthy and strong. A special shout-out of appreciation to front-line workers within our fitness community. Every day on social media we see the incredible heroic stories of our brave nurses, doctors, personal support workers, first responders, truck drivers, cashiers and many other professions. This is a time when the best in all of us rises to the occasion. I see it with all the positive posts of encouragement and support. The bottom line, we will be back stronger and better. This experience has allowed us to reconnect with family members, friends, neighbours and really appreciate what we have. Continue to follow the advice of medical experts and government officials. Be kind and helpful, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay strong! Ron Hache, President Canadian Physique Alliance 06 6
