As the Official Canadian CPA Photography/Media
Company, we cover shows all across Canada. We
have the opportunity to meet many competitors at
each show, all with their own stories about what
brought them to the stage.
Last year we had the privilege of meeting a very
energetic, positive and motivated young man who
had moved to Canada to start a new life with his
family and found a love and sense of family within the
fitness community.
We originally met Mohammed at the very beginning
of the 2018 season in Stratford, Ontario and again at
the President’s Cup in Toronto. His chosen division is
Men’s Physique. He was excited and determined. He
brought along his supportive family and friends. He
enjoyed the show so much standing out to us with his
friendliness, positivity and supportive nature.
We asked him to send us his story of how he became
interested in competing and how he ended up on the
CPA stage.
Here is his story in his own words:
“My name is Mohammed Omid. I’m from Afghanistan.
I came to Canada in 2016. I chose to move to Canada
for a brighter future and better opportunities in
bodybuilding. We have been married for 9 years.
We have 2 beautiful children, Sanam who is 8 and
Sajad who is 20 months old. We live in Richmond Hill,
Ontario.
I met my wife in The Netherlands while she was
visiting family. My wife was from Canada. We had
mutual family friends and were together at a few
gatherings. We started talking and realized we had a
lot in common. After a few meetings my family came
to her family asking for her hand in marriage and
they said yes. We were engaged and got married in
the Netherlands. Her family returned to Canada and
