THE TYPE OF
SWEETENER
Most protein powders are made to taste
like desserts, and this taste is not an
accident. Looking at the ingredients and
seeing where the sweetness comes from
can be crucial to determine if it is the
right product for you. If you are on a very
low carb or ketogenic diet and your
protein powder is sweetened with sugar
this can be detrimental to your goals.
Most protein powders now are
sweetened with sucralose which is an
artificial sweetener that many people do
not mind but can upset some
individual’s stomachs. There is also stevia
which is a natural plant based sweetener
that may not provide as much of a sweet
taste, but still flavors your protein well.

add to your arsenal of
supplements. There can be so
many products on the shelf

overwhelming to pick one with
all the fancy labels out there.

place to get information about
your protein powder. Make sure
to do your research, and
become an educated
consumer before you spend
your money on a shiny label.
The most common protein at the end of the day is whey. Whey protein has been what has
been around for decades and it is very bioavailable in your body as long as you do not have
an allergy to whey. Whey can range from hydrolyzed protein which has enzymes in there to
allow it to be predigested, thus very light on your digestion, all the way to casein protein
which can be very slow acting and higher in lactose. Most of the time, you will be safe buying
an isolate as it is very useful for most individuals goals.
