PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Members:
Let’s talk qualifications!!
The most asked question with respect to qualifications usually starts with: “I
competed at this competition and placed 1st to 5th, Am I qualified.?” That is a
valid question as the tier system has changed since the implementation of the
CPA and the Pro Qualifiers across Canada. In 2018 we grandfathered existing
qualifications from past associations which also added to the confusion.
The good news--it will be a lot clearer for
competitors starting this year.
In 2019, top 3 from regional contests will
qualify to a pro qualifier up to December
31st of the following year regardless of
when you competed in the year. For
example, if you compete in March of 2019
and placed in the top 3 you qualify to a pro
qualifier up to December 31st of 2020. If
you competed in November of 2019 you
qualify to a pro qualifier up to December
31st, 2020. There is an advantage to
competing earlier in the year as you can hit
one of the Pro Qualifiers in 2019 and
regardless where you place, your
qualification from the regional event stays
in place until December 31st of 2020.
