CMW Reveals Keynote Speaker , Live Industry Summit & Awards
Canadian Music Week ( CMW ) has announced that the keynote speaker for 2016 will be Michael Wekerle and that conference programming will be expanded to include a two-day Live Music Summit and the Live Music Industry Awards . CMW 2016 will be held May 4-14 in Toronto and the Live Music Summit will be held May 6-7 , 2016 .
The Live Music Awards , to be held May 7 , 2016 , is created by CMW in partnership with the International Festival Network ( IFN ) and Music Canada Live . Nominees will be posted online at www . livemusicawards . net and be voted on by the general public and industry .

Wekerle is well known in the Canadian finance world and by the public as a “ dragon ” on CBC ’ s popular program Dragons ’ Den . As the founder and chairman of the merchant bank Difference Capital Financial Inc ., he oversees a fund that includes Hootsuite , Vision Critical , BuildDirect , and Blue Ant Media .
