… At The 2020 NAMM Show,
the MIDI 2.0 specifications
were adopted by the MIDI
Manufacturers Association. The
next-generation specification
enhances virtually all aspects
of 1983’s original MIDI 1.0 spec,
allowing for more nuanced
expressiveness, higher reso-
lution, and increased ease-
of-use, as well as backward
compatibility with existing
MIDI 1.0 devices. At the show,
Roland introduced the A-88
MKII, which is the first MIDI
2.0-ready keyboard controller.
