DPA Names Nikolaj Forsberg as EVP of Sales
DPA Microphones has announced the appointment of Nikolaj Forsberg to the post of executive VP of sales . Forsberg is based at DPA ’ s headquarters in Denmark , where he will be responsible for overseeing global sales activity and helping to develop new prospects for DPA ’ s product portfolio .

Mel Bay Celebrates 70 Years
Mel Bay Publications has been celebrating its 70 th anniversary throughout 2017 . Headquartered in Fenton , MO , the company has been selling print music , educational materials , and a wide array of other musical products for seven decades .
The company ’ s roots go back to the 1940s when , following WWII , Mel Bay developed his own method of guitar playing meant to create a bigger sound for orchestras and big bands . He put it into writing , called it Mel Bay ’ s Orchestral Chord System for Guitar , and took it to the major publishers , who all turned him down . Bay self-published his method book and when the

guitar ’ s popularity took off in the 1950s thanks to Elvis Presley and the birth of rock and roll , Mel Bay Publications was born .
“ It kind of feels like we are still standing in a game of Survivor . I have been in the business since 1969 and I know how hard dad worked , so it is gratifying to know that we are still here and that so many people worldwide still use our products ,” company owner William Bay tells Canadian Music Trade . “ We have had our ups and downs like many companies in this industry ; however , we have adapted , whether it be to expand or reduce staff , find new ways to expedite and make the production process more affordable , invest in new equipment and technology , and also to stay abreast of the rapidly changing ways music is published today .
