Sabian Promotes Mark Love to Director of Research & Product Development
Sabian has promoted master product specialist Mark Love to the newly-created position of director of research and product development .
In his new role , Love will take on overall responsibility for the development and creation of new instruments , development of enhanced manufacturing techniques , and ensuring that the highest levels of product quality are maintained .
A 35-year veteran of the Sabian team , Love has been instrumental in developing some of the company ’ s most popular cymbals .
Sabian Vault veteran Dave Williams will take over Love ’ s day-to-day role as vault operations lead . Williams will be responsible for leadership of Vault staff , inventory management , production scheduling , quality testing , and sales order fulfillment .

Yorkville Sound Appoints New District Sales Manager for Ontario
Yorkville Sound has appointed Shawn Crockard as an Ontario district sales manager .
Reporting to VP of Sales and Marketing Jeff Cowling , Crockard ’ s territory will include southwestern and northern Ontario . He will be responsible for existing account relationship management , prospecting , and

business development for Yorkville Sound ’ s catalog of products . Rounding out the Ontario sales team are Chris Gauthier and Alex Donmoyer .

Yamaha Drums Celebrates 50 Years
Yamaha Drums has been celebrating its 50 th anniversary throughout 2017 and to mark the milestone , Yamaha Canada Music threw a party labelled Groove Night at Toronto ’ s Lula Lounge on Nov . 15 , 2017 .
“ Over the last couple of months , there have been several high-profile Yamaha Drums 50 th anniversary events – Japan , Los Angeles , Paris – and we knew Canada deserved one too ,” says Yamaha Canada Music ’ s Ryan Hamilton , product marketing manager for drums and Paiste products . “ This is such a significant milestone for any business , and the Canadian market has supported Yamaha so well over the years that it was something that absolutely needed to be celebrated .”
Hamilton reports that the night was a “ resounding success ,” highlighted by performances by a host of Yamaha artists ranging from Mark Kelso and Larnell Lewis to Randy Cooke and iconic Tower of Power drummer David Garibaldi , to name a few .

A guitar played by Prince sold at auction for $ 700,000 USD in early November . According to Julien ’ s Auctions , the blue teal “ Cloud ” guitar was expected to go for around $ 60,000 to $ 80,000 but a bidding war broke out that saw the price jump ten-fold . It was the highest price ever paid for one of Prince ’ s guitars . Just four such Cloud guitars were made for Prince in the mid- ’ 80s by Dave Rusan and they became a recognizable part of his stage appearance during his career peak .
