Counterpoint Now Distributing Odyssey Brasswind & Spur Violins Counterpoint Musical Services has been named the Canadian distributor for both Odyssey Brass- wind products and Spur Violins. Made in Australia from sustainable materials, Spur Violins are designed by Paul Davies and combine traditional and modern manufacturing processes to create instruments that offer new sounds and aesthetics compared to traditional violins. “We first met Paul and saw his beautiful instruments at a show in New York in 2013 and have been eagerly awaiting the day when we could represent them in Canada,” says Counterpoint Man- ager Kathleen Stokholm. “Spur has been met with great success in Australia in the last few years and has streamlined their production capabilities to allow them to expand into other markets. We are very happy that Canada is one of the first countries outside of Australia to have access to these beautiful, handmade instruments, and that we are their partner, sharing their philosophy of ‘respect for the past, vision for the future.’” Regarding the Odyssey Brasswind announcement, which was made by JHS, Odyssey Master Craftsman Peter Pollard says, “I spent 15 wonderful years in Canada and it gives me great pleasure to know that the Odyssey instruments I designed will be available there… Even more thrilling to know is that they will be represented in Canada by Counterpoint Music, a company that I myself witnessed growing into the thriving business it is today.” “After researching and testing many brands, we are certain Odyssey instruments are an excep- tional choice for both beginning and advancing players. We are very excited to bring this premium line of instruments to our Canadian customers,” adds Stokholm.
