Yanic Simard's
MASCULINE
bathroom
the project
This small bathroom had a good layout but
featured plain surfaces and simple details that
lacked personality. To make the room larger,
we downsized the adjacent hall closet. We then
integrated design elements such as glass, mirror,
a floating vanity, beautiful tiles (in a brick layout
for more visual interest), and ample storage.
my challenge
This compact bathroom was a bit dated
(especially the retro floor), and also lacked
warmth and personality.
my solution
The black and white floor was replaced with
a twelve by twenty-four inch stone tile, which
was then continued up the walls. A small space
looks larger with a pattern running seamlessly.
The floating vanity installed in this bathroom
gives the homeowners extra storage while the
wall-spanning mirror creates the illusion of
more space. The fixed glass panel framing the
shower is a modern alternative to a curtain, and
the simply dressed niches provide a beautiful
place to tuck everything away.
