by the homeowners’ collection of sophisticated artwork, Kelly Deck and her team completely renovated this 1970s town home. Resting on the west side of Vancouver, in the upscale neighborhood of False Creek, the residence offers the family elegance with a modern flair. Upon entering the eighteen hundred square foot townhouse, you are immediately welcomed with a freshly redesigned neutral palette. Injecting modern elegance into the space, an accent blue pops through the dining room chairs. “We looked at the colours found in the owners’ incredible art collection and tried to choose one key colour to pull into each room,” says Kelly Deck, interior designer. Split over four levels, the two-bedroom home is spacious with lots of natural light shining through the oversized windows and ceiling skylights on the main floor. The beautiful view of the city is brought right into the living and dining rooms. Deck says that preserving the spectacular view was a must for the homeowners. When choosing the light fixture to go above the oval dining table, the couple did not want to obstruct the view of Vancouver’s skyline and mountains. “They chose a transparent light fixture to keep the modern interest of the space, without taking away from the view,” added Deck. A low profile cabinet was built across from the dining table to house a television, making it hidden from all angles except the front. “The homeowners wanted a TV in the dining room but didn’t want it to be a focal point, so that’s how we tried to hide it,” says Deck. 92 CanadianHomeTrends.com
