The stigma isn’t going to disappear overnight, but I can help make the process a positive experience. My planning experience together with my knowledge of the cannabis industry from three years of avid research, investing and building contacts will be of benefit to my 420 friendly clients. After seeing how cannabis benefited your sister, you say you were in support of cannabis use for medical purposes. Did you, and at what point did you became supportive of cannabis for recreational use?

Yes, absolutely for medical purposes and the more I researched, the more of an advocate I became, especially given the reduction in seizures for adults and children. It is hard to research medicinal cannabis without reading references to recreational use. My ignorance around that was quickly eroded with the numerous articles and anecdotes I read, when I realized people do not overdose on cannabis and it is safer and less harmful than alcohol or cigarettes. My anger increased when I realized the plant is demonized for the sake of pharmaceutical dollars.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to invest in this industry whether it be shares of a company, a change in career, pursuing education, or starting their own business?

A lawyer from my former workplace gave me some great advice on investing. “Assume that everyone is trying to [screw] you over.” Not to sound pessimistic, but much of what you read on stock boards – both positive and negative – should be taken with a truckload of salt. There is so much pumping of flavour of the week stocks and then dumping simultaneously. Do your research by reading reputable sources, ask questions, go with your gut and make an entry and exit pact with yourself. I have one answer for career changes, pursuing education and starting your own business. I’ve learned the hard way that life is very short,
