2. Homogenous Product

The purists will disagree and take me to task on this but for the majority, legal recreational cannabis will be a somewhat

homogenous product. We are not comparing coffee to milkshakes to cola here. Much like beer and cigarettes for example, consumers may prefer one brand over another, but the overall product is homogenous and with limited marketing options, many customers may be indifferent between similar strains produced by different Licensed Producers. How many of you have outright refused to order in a bar because they did not have your favourite brand? How many people have opted at times for a lower cost brand? In wine, they call this the bottle you drink and the box in the fridge for guests OR high-end wine for the first bottle and house wine for the next. I know when I was in University, a party meant I was buying the under a dollar a bottle beer rather than my preferred craft beer of choice!

As for the purists, I myself am a Craft Beer drinker and have been for decades. Despite this, I recognize and accept as fact that that commercial mass-produced beers dominate the market – beers that, in the opinion of my own palette, lack the same flavour profiles of craft beer. When I ask someone why they prefer these high volume mass-produced beers over a craft beer the answer is the same – lower cost, does not have the bold flavours that makes beer “a beer”, etc.
